This Kirtan will be held online on Zoom. Kirtan is chanting, a yoga of the voice. The practice goes back more than 5000 years and can be practiced by anyone. You do not need to be a good singer, a practitioner of yoga, or a follower of any religion or set of beliefs to experience the power of kirtan.

Kirtan is chanting, a yoga of the voice. The practice goes back more than 5000 years and can be practiced by anyone. You do not need to be a good singer, a practitioner of yoga, or a follower of any religion or set of beliefs to experience the power of kirtan. An open mind and your voice are all that is required! Repeating mantras creates a meditative and uplifted mental state, and helps to melt inhibitions that can suppress our voice and expression. Chanting helps us to let go of our fears and connects or re-connects us to our hearts, and fosters a sense of community and oneness. Some people feel a sense of calm, others a sense of elation.

Compassion for the self, others and the earth is interwoven into the fabric of chanting. In the spaces between, we pause, rest and bathe in the vibration of sound.
