A Christmas spectacular came to intu Uxbridge at the weekend, as part of the town centre’s Christmas Light Switch On spectacular.
Hundreds of families got into the festive spirit on Saturday, when intu Uxbridge came together with Uxbridge Town Centre for a Christmas lights switch-on to rival the best of them.
Father Christmas, his elves and even Debbie McGee arrived from the North Pole, just in time for the magical lights switch-on moment! There was a festive fireworks display and a laser light show too, which you can see projected onto Market House every evening until 25 December.
Local bands and choirs filled the streets with jolly, feel-good tunes, and Christmas Belles, Giant Candy Canes, the Nutcracker and Clara, Love Uxbridge Elves, and festive stilt walkers wandered around the around town all day.
The High Street was bustling with shoppers at the Tinsel Town Christmas market, while the kids enjoyed free face painting, Christmas craft activities and festive balloon modelling. And intu Uxbridge’s restaurants and eateries were offering incredible, exclusive discounts all evening.
Inside intu Uxbridge, shoppers were loving the new extravaganza of new decorations themed around the 12 Days of Christmas. Created by James Glancy Design – famed for its decorations in London’s Regents Street and Carnaby Street – this twinkling extravaganza of winter wonderland beauty will take your breath away.
Now the shopping centre will remain lit up by thousands of sparkling lights, right up until the big day and beyond.
Laurie Taylor, general manager of intu Uxbridge, said: “The lights switch on was the most incredible, festive fiesta! All the shoppers were smiling, the retailers were flourishing and everybody had such a wonderful time! Thank you to everyone who came. If you missed out, don’t worry as our decorations will remain up for a while yet, so you’ll still get to enjoy them.”
At the Christmas snow display outside Debenhams, Mother Christmas will now be telling festive stories from a sleigh on Saturdays throughout December. On Christmas Eve, Father Christmas will switch places with her, giving your little ones the chance to have a last-minute ‘elfie’ with the big man before he sets off on his rounds.
The much-loved grotto and Christmas workshop will return to the Piazza from Saturday 30 November too. Tickets will be Ł5 (or Ł3 for under twos), which includes a Playmobil gift, a Christmas workbook and art activities. All proceeds from the grotto will go to Halo Children’s Foundation, intu Uxbridge’s Charity of the Year.
The Halo Memory Trees will be back for Christmas 2019 too, giving shoppers the chance to write a message to their loved ones who aren’t here to enjoy Christmas with them. Pop along to the Lower Mall outside next to write your message.
intu Uxbridge’s Christmas hours will kick in from 9 December, so you can shop until 8pm from Monday to Saturday. At this busy time of year, every little helps to get your Christmas shopping done!
